What is SGCD1 Steel? SGCD1 steel is a soft drawing quality hot dip galvanized steel. SGCD1 is a material grade and designation defined in JIS G 3302 standard. The drawing quality hot dip galvanized steel is a type of steel that is manufactured after galvanizing a coil of SPCD cold rolled material. The Zinc coating thickness is founded on the thickness and width and is governed by JIS G 3302.
Dimensional Characteristics: The applicable thickness for this SGCD1 material as defined in the JIS G3302 starts from 1.6 mm to 3.2 mm. However, the width of SGCD1 material ranges to over 1600 mm.
The Chemical Composition: JIS G 3302 defines the chemical composition of SGCD1 steels as under:
Maximum percentage of Carbon (C) is 0.12 percent.
Maximum percentage of Manganese (Mn) is 0.60 percent.
Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.040 percent.
Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.040 percent.
Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.
Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength of the SGCD1 Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 270 N/mm2 (MPa) and the yield point is maximum 250 N/mm2 (MPa). The elongation property of SGCD1 is not 34 to 38 percent based on thickness.
Equivalent Material Grades: ISO 3575 defines equivalent material grade as 02 drawing steel and American standard A 653/A 653 M 05 defines the equivalent material as FS type A and FS type B steel.
Applications: SGCD1 Steels are mainly used in forming and slight draw-able applications, that are more draw-able than SGCC steel. These parts can be related to any sector.
